EUNICE VIRGINIA TORIAN, was born 2 May 1878 in Yellow Creek, Houston County, Tennessee to James Franklin Torian and Virginia Brewer and died 20 November 1967 in Nashville, Tennessee. Eunice Torian and James Laban Lewis were married 15 February 1906 in Dickson County, Tennessee. He was born 1872 and died 1945. According to James Lewis Jr., Eunice received a teacher’s certificate from Peabody College in Nashville in 1903 and taught her first class in a one room log school house. She was a lifelong teacher in the Davidson County schools, active in community affairs and in the Methodist Church. She wrote notes and reminiscences of the Lewis and Torian families in 1963.

In 1920 they were living in Davidson County, Tennessee and listed as James L. Lewis, age 47, own farm, born Tennessee, dairy farmer; Eunice T., age 41, wife; James L. Jr., age 8; Virginia, age 6; Eunice P., age 5; Emma L., age 2 4/12; and Florence B., age 11, niece.
