Wayne LaVar Wilcock just home from War, caught Melba's eye. Wayne had dated Melba's older sisters, but decided she was the one. They were married on September 27, 1946 in Marysvale and were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 26, 1964.

Their first daughter, Billie Carol was born while they lived in Marysvale, UT. Following Billie's birth, the young family moved to Roy, Utah and later purchased their current home in Sunset, Utah. Angela Merrie, Buddy Wayne and Wayde Lavar joined the family while in Sunset.

He was a Sgt in the US Army during World War II.
