DAVENPORT - Services for Eleanor Pucci Charles, Davenport, will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation is 11 a.m. Monday until the time of services. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Mrs. Charles died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001, at her home. Eleanor Pucci was born on Feb. 25, 1911, in Davenport, a daughter of Raeffelo and Cherubina (Lunardi) Pucci. She married Jesse E. Miller on June 15, 1932. He died May 22, 1962. She then married Anthony Charles on Oct. 2, 1972, in Guttenberg, Iowa. He died on March 18, 1998. Eleanor's life was dancing. She first learned to dance at the Friendly House in Davenport. She had been involved in many classical ballets. She performed at the Chicago Civic Opera and was on WOC with Marjorie Minor. She had been a choreographer for the Miss America contestants and had studied dance under Bill Robinson who had also taught Shirley Temple. She owned and operated Eleanor Pucci Miller Dance Studio in Davenport and Guttenberg. In Davenport she operated out of three locations during her career, the last being at Hibernian Hall. It was from there that she retired in 1971. Eleanor traveled extensively during her dance career and made many friends. Memorials may be made to the Friendly House where she first learned to dance and to love dance. Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Pat and Myrtle Pucci, Davenport; several nieces and nephews; special friends, T.J. and Heidi Behning, Davenport; and her special caregivers, Mary Barnhart and Phyllis Roehs, both of Davenport. Both husbands; her parents; and a sister, Lillian, preceded her in death.
