Elmer Youker was born to John and Generie (Felt) Youker in December 1890 on the family farm on Silver Lake. He married Frances Williams on Christmas Eve 1917 and had three children: Zelma, James, and Mavis. Elmer and Frances lived on a farmhouse that is currently still standing on Co. Rd. 633 just south of Monroe Center. During the Great Depression, Elmer moved his family to Manton where he worked for Wexford County. They remained there for about ten years before returning to their farmhouse in Monroe Center. Elmer was active in the Monroe Center Methodist Church, delivering a sermon when a minister was not able to get out to the small church during the winter months. He had a nice singing voice and was quite often called upon to sing at social functions.
After the death of wife, Frances he married Hazel Crain in 1948. Elmer died in a tractor accident while helping his son Jim on farm in May 1950.
