Ancil E. Rood, 71, of Troy, died at 2:20 a.m. today in St. Joseph's Hospital, Highland.
A retired painter, he had lived in Troy most of his life. He was born Jan. 2, 1901, in Coulterville. His parents were Clinton and Adella Sinclair Rood.
He was married to Cleda Cooper Sept. 26, 1920, in East St. Louis.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, James E. Rood; a daughter, Mrs. Gene (Betty)Adams, a brother, Earl Rood, and a sister, Mrs. Rene Dunstan, all of Troy, and another brother, Hilon Rood of Denver, Colo.
There are four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Three sisters and a brother are deceased.
Friends may call at the Edwards Funeral Home at Troy after 4 p.m. Friday.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. The Rev. Gary Scheller, pastor of the Troy United Methodist Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Troy City Cemetery.
