Born in Roe, Arkansas on December 18, 1925, Loretta passed away after a long illness on September 5 surrounded by her loving family in Fair Oaks, California at age 86.

A ten year breast cancer survivor, Loretta was preceded in death by her husband Jim Ramey Sr. and son Jim Ramey Jr.; four brothers and two sisters. Loretta is survived by her daughter Linda Grinder and son Dave Ramey (Theresa); daughter-in-law Shawnnee Ramey; grandchildren Fred Grinder Jr., Loretta Kunkle, Stefanie Ryan (Rick), James Ramey, Leah Ramey, Shalene Campbell (Shawn), Sonny Zehm and Chuck Zehm; Loretta was lovingly known as Gigi to eleven great-grandchildren; sister Lena Mae (Danny); brothers Curtis (GeorgiAnn) and Carl (Doris Ann).

In 1942 Loretta met the love of her life Jim Ramey in Fort Smith, Arkansas. In 1943 they married and started a family. In 1952 they relocated to California, settling in Fair Oaks in 1963 where they lived out the rest of their lives. Their strong, loving marriage lasted for 66 years.

Beginning in 1964 Loretta became very active in the Order of the Eastern Star. She served numerous years on the drill team, property committee, was her chapter's 125th anniversary Co-Chair, received the Eastern Star Service Award and served twice as Worthy Matron. She loved the time she spent and friendships she developed over the years.

She began working for the California DMV in 1978 and held various positions and retired after fifteen years of service.

Loved and adored by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren our beautiful Gigi will be forever in our hearts and remembered for her warm and generous spirit, always there for us anytime we needed her. She had a wonderful, spunky sense of humor and loved to laugh. In her retirement, she loved traveling, spending time with her family, taking trips to the Wine Country, gambling trips to Reno, Hot August Nights and planning and hosting family get togethers. Mom was known for her beautiful Rose Garden and was proud of her beautiful fragrant roses.

Friends and family are invited to attend visitation, Monday, September 10, from 6 to 8 pm and a funeral service on Tuesday, September 11 at 11 am at Lind Brothers Mortuary, 4221 Manzanita Avenue, Carmichael, California.

The family would like to thank Sutter Roseville Hospice for the kind and attentive care they provided for our mother during the past three months and would like to request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Sutter Roseville Hospice or the American Cancer Society in memory of Loretta Ramey.
