A retired florist for 23 years at Mary Sue's Flowers and Gifts, she passed peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013. She was 69 and a resident and native of Grosse Tete. Visiting at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Grosse Tete, on Tuesday, Jan. 8, from 8:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Joseph Sanjay, celebrant. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery. Survived by her husband of 50 years, Willie J. Romig, Sr.; daughter, Judy R. Glaser and husband Robert; son, Jerry Romig and wife Rebecca; four grandchildren, Cody Romig, Mikalynn Glaser, John Morgan Romig and Carolyne Glaser; and sister-in-law, Florence J. Chauffe. Preceded in death by her parents, Alex 'Big Dee" and Corabel "Mama Cora" Chauffe; and brother, Alex Chauffe, Jr. Pallbearers will be Cody Romig, John Morgan Romig, Michael David Chauffe, Kevin Bush, Patrick Fleniken and Calvin Romig. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Glaser and Michael Chauffe. The family would like to offer a special thanks to Dr. Karl Luikart, Dedra Newton F.N.P., Pointe Coupee Home Health & Hospice. Also a special thanks to the Pokeno Club & the Thursday crew from Madeline's Beauty Shop. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
