Came As Sad Blow
Mr. Weissmiller's sudden and unexpected death came as a sad blow to both relatives and friends, few of whom were aware that he was ill. Still an unusually active man despite his advanced years, Mr. Weissmiller had over-exerted himself while assisting at the family farm in Washington township two weeks ago, aggravating a condition which resulted in his fatal illness. He was not considered seriously ill, however, until about 5 a. m. Friday when he suffered such a sudden sinking spell that all of the children were quickly summoned to his bedside. With surprising stamina, Mr. Weissmiller bridged this crisis. Early Saturday morning, however, he experienced another turn for the worse, finally coming to a peaceful end of his march down life's pathway at about 2:30 in the afternoon.
Native of Washington Township
A native of Washington township, Albert Weissmiller was a son of Jacob and Elizabeth
Dick Weissmiller, having been born on July 5, 1859. He was united in marriage to Anna Bieri in Washington township, Nov. 20, 1884. A year ago last November the couple had the pleasure of observing their golden wedding anniversary, scores of citizens calling at that time to pay them their respects and best wishes. In November, 1917, Mr. and Mrs. Weissmiller moved to Monticello to make their home, leaving their farm under the management of their oldest son, Albert C. Weissmiller, Jr. Since then they have always resided in the village.
The sudden passing of Mr. Weissmiller has removed from our midst a man whose sterling integrity and exemplary character had won him the friendship of countless citizens, not only in his home community but throughout Green county. He was an individual who constantly looked at the sunny side of life and his good-natured, jovial disposition—always radiating a contagious spirit of cheerfulness—created an indelible impression upon everyone with whom he came into contact.
Known For Honesty
Mr. Weissmiller was well known for his unquestioned honesty in his dealings with fellow citizens. Not only was he a kind and considerate husband and father, but he was always willing and anxious to lend a helping hand to neighbors and friends in distress, It can be truthfully said of him that he combined those rare and genuine characteristics representative of real manhood. Mr. Weissmiller was a member of the Reformed church of Washington township.
