2 BROTHERS AND SISTER MEET AFTER MANY YEARS
by Paul Jasper, Staff Writer
A long separation of a brother and his sister was brought to an end here last week when Frank Anzalone, Sr., of Monroe, was reunited with his sister, Miss Lillian Anzalone, of Castronova, Sicily, Italy, after 46 years.

An just to add spice to an already momentous occasion, another brother, Vick Anzalone, whom Frank had not seen in 30 years, also arrived here. The long separation of the family, which much to their regret; has still not ended as far two other sisters are concerned, began for Frank and Lillian in 1908, when the then 25 year old Frank Anzalone and his young wife set out for the United States from their home town of Castranova, Sicily, Italy.

Frank, the oldest in a family of eight children, left Italy when Lillian Anzalone was only six years old. He settled in Natchez, Mississippi, where one by one, his four brothers - who like Frank were all barbers - arrived as the years went by. Thirty years ago, Frank left Natchez for Monroe, where he continued his trade of barbering. Vick Anzalone who had followed Frank to this country, moved to Brooklyn, New York. Frank's brother, Sam Anzalone, also went to Brooklyn, while Charlie Anzalone went on to New York City. Lillian and two other sisters, Annie and Mariana, remained in Castronova, while brother, Tony, went back to Sicily from the U. S.

In the ensuing years both Sam Anzalone and Charlie Anzalone were able to come to Monroe occasionally to visit Frank. Vick and Tony, both of whom he last saw in Natchez, were unable to come.

Recently, however, Lillian Anzalone embarked from Castronova for Brooklyn, where she was reunited with Vick, Sam and Charlie. Then Vick and Lillian came on to Monroe. When they arrived, Frank, now 71 years old, did not recognize his sister, despite pictures which has been sent over the years. Miss Anzalone plans to remain in the States at the Brooklyn home of her brother, Vick, after they complete their visit here. Sunday a family reunion of Lillian, Vick, Frank and Frank's family was held at Bernstein Park where the two visitors met Frank's children and grand children, most for the first time. Vick Anzalone saw his sister in 1931 when he went to Italy on a honeymoon trip.
