SCARBROUGH - Mary Barnard Scarbrough, 67, went to meet her Lord and Savior, Friday, March 23, 2001 in a local hospital. Born and raised in Jacksonville, she was a member of Main Street Baptist Church; was Past President of the Highlands Little League Auxilliary; and the Sheffield Elementary P.T.A., until she had to resign due to her health. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is with her Lord and Savior. Mrs. Scarbrough is preceded in death by: her husband, Cater H. Scarbrough in 1997; her son, Steven Wayne Scarbrough in 1977; and an infant daughter in 1950. She is survived by: a daughter Teresa L. Clark and her husband James R. Clark; two sons, George Allen Scarbrough, Sr. and Hubert M. Scarbrough, Sr.; a sister, Lessie Mae Sweat and her husband Gregory Sweat; eight grandchildren; 5 greatgrand children; numerous nieces and nephews; and several close friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 26, 2001 in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4747 Main Street with Rev. J. Harris Touchton, officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM till 5:00 PM Sunday, March 25, 2001 at the Funeral Home.
