Wesley Eric Abington


Wesley Eric Abington was born on March 6, 1967 in Pawnee, Oklahoma to Abraham Lincoln Abington and Betty Louise Johnson Abington.

He passed from this life on Wednesday, January 2, 2012 in Tulsa, Oklahoma having reached the age of 45 years, 9 months, and 24 days.

He grew up in Ponca City, Oklahoma where he attended Garfield Elementary. Wesley later moved back to Pawnee where he attended Pawnee High School. While attending Pawnee High School he was involved in many sport activities. However, he had a special love for the game of football.

He graduated from Pawnee High School with the Class of 1985. After graduating, Wesley attended and played football at Langston University. As a child Wesley had a very close relationship with all his siblings, Kelvin, Treva, Greg, Jeff, Tony, Roslind, Scottie, and many other relatives.

While attending Langston University he met Tiffany E. Stripling and they later wed on January 7, 1987. They soon moved back to Pawnee to raise their three children; Abrahm Eric Abington, Raven Louise Abington, and Christen Mishelle Abington.

Wesley worked many jobs before becoming disabled, he then devoted most of his time to his family, mostly his children. He enjoyed taking his children to after school activities and spending quality family time. He was a devoted father, son, brother, and uncle, and was a selfless person. His main objective was to be there for others.

Brother-in-law: Marvin Rolland

Son: Abrahm Abington

Daughters: Raven and Christen Abington

Longtime Friend: Tiffany Stripling

Plus many other family members.

He was preceded in death by his father, Abraham Lincoln Abington; and three siblings, Jeffery Abington, Roslind Abington, and Antonio Abington.

Services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Monday, January 7, 2012 at the First Baptist Church, Pawnee, Oklahoma, with Elder Millard Jones, Pastor Charles Jones, Rev. Kenneth Anderson, and Rev. Armon Johnson officiating. Interment will be Highland Cemetery, Pawnee, Oklahoma, under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home, Pawnee, Oklahoma.
