NOTE: According to a note in the Contra Costa Gazette OF 15 Oct 1941, Mrs. Ila M. Akin filed a petition in superior court requesting the court to terminate a joint tenancy with Joseph E. Akin on property in the Bickerstaff tract. This petition would be after Joseph E. Akin's death in March, 1941. The joint tenancy may indicate a marital relationship.

UPDATE: According to the 1940 federal census, Joseph E. Akin was living at #72 Dewing Street with his wife Ila M. (53) and daughter Anita M. (14) in Contra Costa, CA. Ila M. Akin was born in Michigan, and daughter Anita M. was born in California. (Dedman Institute)
