HEADLINE-GEO. M. HACKINGER DIED CHRISTMAS MORNING, LEAVING A WIDOW AND ONE ONE SON AND ONE DAUGHTER.

George M. Hackinger, after a short illness of bowel trouble, died at the family home on Columbus and Park, Christmas morning at 1:30 and private funeral services, conducted by Rev. W. T. Mabon, were held at the home Tuesday afternoon, interment being made in the City Cemetery.

Mr Hackinger was a native of Cincinnati, the son of Protice and Abigail Lord Hackinger.

He came to Bellefontaine about 50 years ago and his first wife was Minerva Lord, of this city, daughter of the late Dr. Abial Lord of this city, and sister of Mrs. Lucinda Wright and Mrs. Maria More, of Bellefontaine. To them, two sons were born, Richard Hackinger, who died in boyhood, and James Clarence Hackinger, whose home is in Urbana.

The second wife was Ada Stairwalt and she and the one child born to this union, Grace Hackinger, survive.

The deceased was a brick mason by occupation and a man of honesty and industry. He was reared in the Catholic Church and his parents belonged to the old families in Hamilton County having nine sons and daughters, now widely scattered. The brothers left are Henry, Charles, Joseph and James Hackinger, and the sisters, are Mrs. Agnes Frohmyer, Mrs. Addie Ernst. Mrs. Sarah Luber, and Mrs. Josephine Hoffman.

All who knew the deceased held him in high esteem and noted his ambition in behalf of his only daughter, giving her musical instruction from childhood and other accomplishments. He was an earnest advocate of education and righteous living and his life was unostentatious and blameless.

His obituary was from The West Liberty paper on December 26, 1910, and now found on Microfilm in the Bellefontaine Library.

Note: The Hackenger family originated in South West Germany-Province of Hohenzollern, Prussia, about thirty-one miles from Stutgart, Germany. The name then, was spelled Hechinger.
