Roberta 'Bertie' McKissick Armstrong Myers, 100, of Darlington, died Saturday, December 29, 2012, at Heritage Valley Beaver .

Born October 18, 1912, in Aliquippa, PA, to the late William and Mary Ada Patterson McKissick, she was a member of the Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church where she served as a former Deacon. She was a retired school teacher who began her teaching career in a one room school. She continued to teach, retiring after 35 years of service. Bertie was also a member of Eastern Star, Darlington Book Club, Choral Club, Little Beaver Historical Society, AARP as well as a life member of Lioness. She was the head of the March of Dimes for many years. Bertie had a clown factory in her home and was also an avid traveler.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Carl Armstrong and C.W. Myers; a son, Donald Armstrong, and three sisters, Thelma Robbins, Florence Kimmel, and Frances Greaves.

Surviving are two daughters, Mary E. Brittain and Herman Muller, Tampa, FL and Linda J. Smith, Darlington, PA; four grandchildren, Alan Brittain, Debbie Shee, Jon Brittain and Jodi Musguire; ten great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the LUTTON CHIPPEWA FUNERAL HOME, 117 Blackhawk Road, www.luttonfuneralhome.com. She will lie in state at the Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church, 718 Market Street, Darlington, PA on Thursday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of her funeral service at noon. Rev. Bob Saul will officiate.

Private interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery.

The family requests contributions be made to the Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church.

Mother's importance and value to our family cannot be adequately expressed in these few sentences. She lived a long, rich life and yet is gone too soon. Her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren express once again their love and great sadness at her passing.
