A daughter of immigrants, Helen was born Sept. 14, 1932, the seventh of nine children.
She attended the Pottsville High School and was employed for many years at Phillips & Jones where she worked as a sewing machine operator.
Born and raised in Seltzer City PA, Helen lived most of her adult life in Tamaqua, after her marriage in 1960 to Franklin Wentz Jr. It is there where she was a member of St. Jerome Roman Catholic Church.
In 2007, she moved to Nanticoke PA to live near her son and family. In Nanticoke, she was a member of St. Foustina Roman Catholic Church.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin; her three infant daughters whom she longed for her entire life, Cathlene, Lisa and Linda Jean; her parents, John Joseph and Mary Antoinette Martinko Lazovi; her brothers, Joseph, Joseph John, John Joseph, Joseph Edward and Francis Clement; and her sisters, Mary Purcell and her husband, George Harris, and Margaret Pohronezny and her husband, Alex.
In addition to her son and grandsons, Helen is survived by her beloved sister Anne Skrincosky and her husband, Joe; George Harris Jr. who was more like a brother than a nephew; sisters-in-law, Joyce (Mrs. John Joseph), Mary (Mrs. Joseph Edward) all of Seltzer, and Dorothy (Mrs. Francis) of Pottsville, and many adoring nieces and nephews as well as her loving Wentz family, Joan Fritz and her husband, Gene, and Richard Wentz and his wife, Georgene, all of Tamaqua.
Helen lived her life in a good and simple manner, making her family the center of her world. She was loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed.
Friends and Family gathered at Zizelmann-Roche Funeral Home, 500 E. Broad St., Tamaqua. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 in St. Jerome Catholic Church, 266 W. Broad St., Tamaqua.
