Allan R. "Al" Davis, 52, a lifelong resident of the Wainwright area, died Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at his home.

He was born July 20, 1959, in Dover, Ohio, to the late Joseph Frederick Davis and Jean Elizabeth (McPeck) Davis.

He was a 1977 graduate of the former Indian Valley North High School in Midvale. Al spent many years as a self-employed heavy equipment operator, working in area oil fields. For the last several years, he was the road foreman for Warwick Township. He was an avid motorcyclist who was a member of the Harley Owners Group. He enjoyed riding with his many friends. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association.

Al is survived by his siblings, David (Linda) Davis, Fred (Sheila) Davis, Ann (fiance, Jim Pretorius) Thomas, and Linda (Michael) Davis Smith, all of Wainwright; nieces and nephews, Bryan Davis, Chad Davis, Ray Thomas, Lee (Jessica) Thomas, and Jim Thomas of Wainwright, and Brandy (Ralph Jr.) Smith of Sugarcreek; great-nephews, Adrian and Adam Thomas and Ezra Smith; a dear friend who was like a daughter to him, Val Lindon; best friends, Paul Garner, and Dave (Joan) Eichel; and a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A service and celebration of Al's life was held at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison on Thursday, June 21, 2012. Those wishing to honor his memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the Down Rider Foundation (a non-profit organization which assists injured motorcyclists), c/o Banner Bank, 3405 188th St. S.W., Suite 201, Lynnwood, WA 98037 or at www.downrider.org or to the charity of their choice.

According to Al's wishes, cremation has taken place and the ashes scattered by his family at a private location.
