Leo Southard, 64, of 2558 Ever-
ett Drive, died suddenly Mon-
day morning while on a fishing trip
near Douglas, Kan.
Funeral services will be at 2
p.m., Thursday, in Henninger-
Allen Funeral Home with Dr.
James L. Christensen Officiat-
ing. Burial will be in Memorial
Park Cemetery.
Born on a farm northwest of
Nash, Southard grew up in the
Nash, Goltry and Hillsdale com-
munities where he farmed and
also worked on the Santa Fe
Railroad for 16 years. He moved
to Enid in 1946 and later moved
to Halltown, Mo., where he
farmed.
In 1952 Southard moved to In-
dependence, Kan, where he
worked for the Rilco Lumber
company. He returned to Enid
1954 and became a machine
operator for the Enid Street de-
parment.
He was married to the former
Alma Wayman in Enid, August
7, 1923. He was a member of
the Christian Church of Nash
and the Enid Rifle Assoc.
Survivors include his wife, Al-
ma of the home, a daughter,
Mrs. Wayne ( Lela Fern) Dow-
ers of Derby, Kan., three grand-
children, Mrs. Dale Harper of
Elmdale, Kan., and Merrill and
Gary Dowers of Derby, Kan.,
a sister, Mrs. John Callahan of
Hillsdale, a step-sister Mrs. Ida
Mackey of Enid, two step-broth-
ers, Herman Boehm of Nash
and William Boehm of Medford.
He was preseded in death by
his parents and a brother Carl.
Pallbearers will be Russell
Nay, Thomas W. Hatfield, Hu
bert, Williams. John Walbet
Mitchell Modrick and Don Wea-
ber.
