Effie, age 17, married Edson Ogdon Rose in Tacoma, Pierce Co, WA on May 3, 1894. Edson was the son of Charles G. Mary Elizabeth (Butts) Rose.

On June 13, 1900, Edson O. & Effie M., ages 32 & 22, lived in Klickitat Precinct, Lewis Co, WA, where they owned a farm near Effie's sister, May Rich. They had been married 6 years; Effie had given birth to two children, Alice B. & Henry H., ages 5 & 2.

Effie & Edson were divorced in May 1905.

On April 21, 1910, Edson, age 41, lived with his parents, Charles & Mary, ages 72 & 70, in Klickitat Precinct, Lewis Co, WA on a farm, they owned. His parents had been married 48 years; his mother had given birth to 3 children, but he was the only one who was living. His and Effie's son, Henry H., age 12, lived with them.

Effie married James E. Grimes sometime before 1915.

On Jan. 30/31 & Feb. 1, 1920, James & Effie Grimes, ages 54 & 42, owned a farm in Union, Lewis Co, WA. Her son, George Rose, age 19, lived with them. Also, their daughter, Margaret, 2 years & 6 months.

On April 11, 1930, Effie & James E. Grimes, ages 54 & 68, owned a farm valued at $15,000 in Union Precinct, Lewis Co, WA. Their daughter, Louise, age 12, lived with them.

"Death Takes Ex-Resident
A former resident of Chehalis for 40 years, Mrs. Effie M. Grimes, 88, died Monday in a Shelton hospital following a brief illness. She had been a resident of Shelton for the past nine years.

She was born March 28, 1876, in Oregon and was the widow of James Grimes. He died in 1948.

She is survived by two daughters; Mrs. Louise Donohoe, Shelton and Mrs. Alice Cameron, San Jose, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Lelia Grubbe, Chehalis, and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m., at the Fissell Funeral Home in Chehalis with the Rev. Eugene Knautz, Shelton, officiating. Burial will follow at the Mountain View cemetery, Centralia."
