Hazel C. Ruby, 102, formerly of the Mapleton area, and a resident of the Church of God Home, Carlisle, died Friday evening, Dec 7, 2012, at the home. Born Feb 22, 1910, in Cass Township, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Isabel (Querry) Bowman. She was united in marriage to Elmer Ruby, Sep 9, 1929. He preceded her in death in 1969. She later had a companion, Marshall Dell, who preceded her in death in 2006. Mrs. Ruby is survived by a daughter, Wanda Bowers and her husband, John, of Carlisle, grandchildren, Larry Ruby and his wife, Jodee; Susan Bickel and her companion, David Horn, all of Mapleton; Kathi Darhower and her companion, Delbert Petit, of Shermansdale; Douglas Bowers and his wife, Judy, of Mechanicsburg; great-grandchildren, Jennifer Hawbecker and her husband, Bryan of Chambersburg; Jeremy Ruby and his wife, Danielle, of Mapleton; Samuel Bickel of Huntingdon; Samantha Beckner and her husband Tyler, of St. Thomas; Paige Darhower of Boiling Springs; Travis, Bowers of Colorado and Jaiden Petit of Shermansdale; and great-great-children, Olivia, and Lily Hawbecker, Sawyer; Abby and Case Ruby; Riley, Trapper, Blair and Layne Bickel; and Blake Beckner. She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Ruby, March 26, 2008; a daughter, Barbara Ruby, who was 10 months old at the time of her death, and a number of siblings. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Ruby was primarily a homemaker and will be remembered by her family as a hard worker. She enjoyed the years she spent raising chickens and tending to her flowers. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Cornelius Chapel Cemetery, Cass Township. There will be no viewing or visitation. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Robert D.
