Myrtle Hedrick

Myrtle Beanblossom Hedrick, 84, of Shiptontown Road, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, at Brian Center Viewmont in Hickory.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Holloways Baptist Church, where she was a member, by the Revs. Craig Barnhill and Ron Chapman and Chaplain Harry MacCall. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Hedrick was born June 3, 1922, in Davidson County to Jim and Dora Cross Beanblossom. She graduated from Southmont High School. After her children started school, she entered Pfeiffer College, where she earned a degree in education. She taught at Silver Valley Elementary School for more than 20 years and was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa sorority. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Hedrick; a sister, Troy Beanblossom; and a brother, Doyle Beanblossom.

Surviving are her son, Raymond Hedrick and his friend, Christine Van Arsdale, of Lexington; one daughter, Luann Hedrick MacCall and her husband, David, of Hickory; one sister, Viola Tussey of Lexington; three grandchildren, Laura, Hannah and David MacCall; a special roommate, Betty Hahn; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton.
