Rev. C. Fuehrer, a pastor in the Evangelical conference of Nebraska for a period of thirty-five years, died at his home, 204 East Thirteenth street, at 8 p.m. Sunday. Heart trouble and complications are given as the cause of his death after an illness of five years' duration, the last two months of which he had been confined to his bed.
Rev. Fuehrer was born in Switzerland May 28, 1862. He came to this country when nineteen years of age and located near Downers Grove, Ill., where he joined the Evangelical church. He was a student of the Northwestern, now North Central College at Naperville, Ill., for three years in preparation for the ministry. In 1888 he came to Nebraska and took charge of the Swanton mission. Two years later he served in Buffalo county. He also held charges at various other cities in the state as well as serving four years in Grand Island. His marriage to Sophia Urwiller took place on July 1, 1889 and to this union ten children were born, eight of whom survive. Rev. Fuehrer had been in retirement for the past five years.
There remain to mourn his loss the bereaved widow, the children, Mrs. O. H. Rembolt, residing northeast of the city; Mrs. John Zamzow, residing west of the city; Calvin of Buffalo county; Lester, of Casper, Wyo.; Mrs. Lou Rudolph, of Archer; Mrs. John Kusmerick, of Chicago, and Donald and Eleanor, of this city. A son and a daughter died in infancy. Two brothers, Joe and Anton, a sister, two half-sisters and two half-brothers also survive.
Funeral services were held from the home, 204 East Thirteenth street, at 10 a.m. Tuesday, which was followed by a service at the Salem Evangelical church at Twelfth and Eddy streets. . . [Omitted in this transcription is a detailed account of the funeral service.] Following the services the body was taken overland to St. Michael, where services were conducted at the Buffalo county mission in the afternoon with Rev. S. B. Dillow of Kearney giving the address. Interment was made in the Pleasant Hill cemetery, southeast of Ravenna.
