Alva (Red) Murphy, 56, of 1611 North K Street, died suddenly Monday at Los Angeles. He was born December 28, 1910 in Crooksville, Ohio, a son of Asbury and Etta Murphy.

He was married to Wilma Clary July 14, 1929. He was a retired employe of Guide Lamp.

Survivors are the widow, Wilma; one daughter, Mrs. Patricia Gullion of Martinez, California and Alva Murphy, Jr., of Los Angeles; a sister, Mrs. Forest Kornick of Pomona, California and a half-sister, Mrs. Georgia Ripley, also of Pomona, California; the following step brothers and step sisters, Mrs. Della Brown, Mrs. Starcher, and Mrs. Docie Blark, all of Crooksville; Mrs. Bertha Pennington, Mrs. Pearl Posey, Emory Goff, Hurl Goff and Basil Goff, all of Zanesville, Ohio; five grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are not completed. The body will be returned to Elwood for funeral rites and burial.
