Thursday 26 February 1953:

"Funeral services for Thomas Walsh Sr., Piedmont merchant, who died Saturday evening, were conducted Tuesday morning at St. Peter's Church, Westernport. Rev. George J. Pugh, assistant pastor, said the Mass. Rev. Charles H. Quinn, assistant pastor, was in the sanctuary.

Pallbearers were Elmer Shaver, Fred Podelco, Eston Nazelrod, Mervin High, Patrick J. Healy, James Bissett and Leo Ryan.

Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Washington, where graveside services were conducted by Rev. Father Moody of St. Thomas Moore Church. Rev. Msgr. William Kelly, pastor of St. Francis Xavier Church, was present at the service.

Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. John Walsh and children, John and Elizabeth Ann, Mrs. M. J. McHale and daughter, Mrs. Ernest Miller, of Baltimore; Mrs. L. V. Stuart, San Diego, California; Joseph Walsh, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Walsh, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Welsh and daughter, Margaret, of Washington, D. C.; Mr. and Mrs. George Lincoln, Mr. and Mrs Thomas Walsh, Arlington, Va.; Mr. and Mrs. Ray McNemar and son, David, Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Marsh, Mr. and Mrs. Robrt Cole and daughers, Barbara and Mary Ann, of the Tri-Towns; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Cole and Harry Cole, Washington, D. C.

A native of County Mayo, Ireland, Mr. Walsh had resided here for thirty years. He operated a grocery store on East Fairview street, Piedmont, for twelve years. He was a member of St. Petter's Catholic Church. His wife, Mrs. Anna Marie (Donnelly) Walsh died 10 July 1946.

In failing health for several years, Mr. Walsh suffered a heart attack Saturday morning at his store and died Saturday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ray McNemar, 35 West Fairview Street.

Besides Mrs. McNemar, Mr. Walsh leaves five other daughters, Mrs. George Lincoln, Arlington, Va.; Mrs. Joseph Welsh, Washington, D. C.; Mrs. L. V. Stuart, San Diego, California; Mrs. Robert Cole and Mrs. Clifton Marsh, Westernport; four sons, John Walsh, Baltimore; Joseph Walsh Jr., Arlington, Va.; and Martin Walsh, Piedmont; three sisters, Mrs. J. M. McHale, Baltimore; Mrs. John Miller, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and another in Ireland, and nine grandchildren."
