Mrs. Lena Heyman Lewis was a member of Congregation Beth Yeshurun. Survivors: two daughters, Mrs. Bert Scheinbrum of Waco and Mrs. Leslie Lippman of Schulenberg; four sons, Abe, Max L., Ben T., and Meyer H. Lewis of Houston; sister, Mrs. Jack Coplon of Syracuse NY; brothers Joe Heyman of Ambridge, PA, Sam Heyman, Albert Heyman, Morris Heyman, all of Elmira, NY.
Lena came to the United States sometime in 1913 or 1914 through Galveston. Lena remembered the Hurricane in 1915 –they lived on Hamilton Street and Joe had a broken leg and she had a new baby (Libbie). She was scared so they all went to Aaron Lewis' Houston to wait out the hurricane (they lived just around the corner).
