Census: 1940, age 27 Carthage, Jasper county, Missouri with parents at 1012 south McGregor street, same location as in 1935, an attorney.

I recall when he was City Attorney, during early 1940's, we had shot out some street lights in our alley (Lyon street) so Dad took me before him at city hall one evening, then located on 2nd street behind the Boggess Agency in the Williams building of 133 east Third street, years later when his office was in the Crane building east of where the theater was, he showed me his father's self-collected, complete Indian Head penny collection, including the 1877 and 1909-s.

They were great neighbors when I was growing up, and good friends of the family through life. He handled Edwin Albert Hough's (my aunt Edith's husband) Carthage real estate matters, namely the Barlett Buildings, was partnered with Jimmie Spradling when I arranged for Jim to look after my affairs, should I become unable, they then were on south Main street, west side south of 5th street. Bob handled my step-mother's legal affairs till her death and they were close friends of my step-sister and a fishing companion of her hubby.

He was the attorney over the Kent & Mary Steadly Trust, which by 1960 had benefited the town by over $22,000,000, plus, he was involved with many of the town's civic activities, Jasper county levee district #1, Kellogg Lake, Maple Leaf festival, Carthage Industrial Development Corp, etc.
