Mrs. Akers Dies at 78

Mrs. Edna Akers, 78, a well-known resident of the Grand Traverse region, died late Friday afternoon at Munson hospital following a long illness.

Edna Brazington was born November 2, 1882 in this city, and had lived here all her life. She was united in Marriage to Fred Akers of this city in 1900, who preceded her in death 12 years ago.

Mrs. Akers was a member of the Hillside Grove Extension Club and Hillside Farm Bureau.

Surviving are one son, Theron, of El Monte, California; three grandchildren and four great grean d-children; a brother, Joe (Dewey) Brazington of Clearwater, Florida; two sisters, Mrs. Leon Hall of Toledo, Ohio, and Mrs. Ben Burkhead of Lutz, Florida; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be held MOnday afternoon at 3:00 at the Hibbard chapel withe the Rev. Robert Derby, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating. Burial will be made in the family lot in Oakwood cemetery (Traverse City Record Eagle, 1 July 1961, page 3, column 1).
