Frederick was the son of Frank Akers and Louise Geheren. He was married on 7 May 1902 in Traverse City to Edna M. Brazington.

Fred F. Akers Taken By Death

Fred F. Akers, 72, life-long resident of this region, died early this morning at his farm home on R.2 following a long illness.

Mr. Akers was born in Bingham, Leelanau county, June 10th, 1878, and spent his early life there. In 1902 he was married to Edna M. Brazington of this city. The young couple located here where Mr. Akers operated a confectionary store on Front street for a number of years. In 1911 M. Akers purchased a farm in Long Lake township where he had since made his home.

Surviving, besides his widow, are one son, Theron, of El Monte, Calif; four brothers, William of Cleveland, O.; Martin of Bay City; Perry of Grayling; John of Traverse City; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Pelon and Mrs. Jane McGarry, both of this city; 3 grandchildren, other relatives and friends. A sister preceded him in death.

The body was removed to the Hibbard Chapel and complete arrangements will be announced later (Traverse City Record Eagle, 10 January 1950, page 7, column 3).
