Mr. Medendorp died Thursday (Aug. 20, 1998) at the Gilman Nursing Home.
He was born March 24, 1913 in Crofton, Neb., the son of John and Kate DeVries
Medendorp.
Mr. Medendorp farmed for 37 years in the Gilman area.
Surviving are his wife, the former Erma Evelsizer, whom he married Sept. 29,
1945 in Gilman; one son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Deb Medendorp of Urbana;
three grandchildren; one brother, Donald Medendorp of Gilman; four sisters,
Alice Medendorp of Gilman, Edith Collins of Bourbonnais, Nellie Jacob of
Bennington, Neb., and Florence Crowner of Kankakee; and three nieces, three
nephews and cousins.
Deceased are one sister, Freida Pree and one niece, Sandra Baker.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army from 1941-1945 in the
Pacific Theatre.
He was a 50-year member of the Gilman American Legion and Odd Fellow Lodge.
