Evening Times, Cumberland, Maryland, Monday, 9 Mar 1908: "Death of Mrs. Canty Mrs. Elizabeth Canty, wife of Mr. William Canty, died at her late residence at Midland last night. Aged 50 years. Her father was the late James Cavanaugh and a brother of the late John Canty, have both died within the last seven weeks. Mrs. Canty is survived by a husband and four children."

Evening Times, Cumberland, Maryland, Thursday 12 Mar 1908: "Attended the Funeral. John Canty, of Oakland, Michael McGreevy, of Barton, and Thomas McGreevy of Westernport, Bernard and Patrick McPartland and their sisters. Alice, Kate and Ellen, Mrs. Mary Marley, John Marley and Misses Kate, Tillie and Lizzie Marley and Michael Marley, all of Lonaconing, attended funeral of Mrs. Elizabeth Canty in Midland yesterday. From Frostburg came Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Nearn. Mss Kate McPartland, John McDonald other. It was a very large funeral."
