ANOTHER DROWING DEATH
Alice Millett, 13, Sank In Shallow Water In Green River
Alice Millett, 13, daughter of Mrs. Thomas Lavin of Shattuck street was drown in the Green river Thursday afternoon in comparatively shallow water. With a companion, Lillian Hosmer, she was wading about pushing a log ahead of her when she suddenly stepped into deeper water; she grabbed the Hosmer girl and the latter almost pulled the latter girl down, but the water wings which she was wearing and help from her brother nearby enabled the Hosmer girl to get to shore. Albert Tetreault, who swimming up the river heard the childrens cries and dove for the body bringing it to shore about a half hour after the accident. A physician applied resuscition methods, but these proved unavailing.
The body was removed to the Woodlock Undertaking rooms and the funeral held at Holy Trinity church Monday morning.Rev. J. M. Carroll conducting the service. The burial was in Calvary cemetery. The bearers were Albert Teterault, Joseph Levaie, Henry Briggs, and Edward Fitzgerald. Besides Mrs. Lavin there are several brothers. The prompt action of Albert Tetreault in diving for the girl's body is deeply appriciated by the family.
