Her high school sweetheart, Dave "Gene" Tribby, returned from the service in 1946. After they were married they relocated to St. Petersburg, Pinellas Co., Florida. As their family grew to four children, she became involved in Sunday school teaching, PTA, Cub Scouts, and 4-H.
The family moved 20 miles north, to Dunedin, in 1964. As the kids grew older, Ruth felt comfortable taking a part-time job outside the home. After becoming a substitute teacher, she began receiving increasing calls from the local high school. In 1974 she joined the Business Department at Dunedin High School as a typing teacher, later also teaching business math, bookkeeping, and accounting.
She retired from teaching in 1989, but stayed active tutoring struggling readers at local grade schools and volunteering at church. One of her biggest joys was hosting family and friends in her home and keeping in touch through weekly letters.
Ruth spent several years focused on the care of Gene before his death. A little over a year later she found she had advanced cancer, but in her last months always expressed thanks for the many blessings she had received in her life. She died peacefully at home in Dunedin, Pinellas Co., Florida, on 25 Sep 2008 and was interred at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park in Clearwater, Pinellas Co., Florida.
