Edward Britcher, aged 69 years, 5 months and 5 days died at his home at Locust Grove, Saturday at 7.20 p. m. from the effects of a paralytic stroke which he suffered Friday morning and which left him in an unconscious condition until death relieved his sufferings.
He had been afflicted with high blood pressure for several years but otherwise was in his usual health until the above stated time.
Mr. Britcher was a son of Philip and Naomi Shuman Britcher, of Blain and was married to Miss Annie Hirt, of Mannsville, February 10, 1898, at the Landisburg Reformed parsonage by the Rev. G. A. House. They had no children. He was a farmer by occupation all his married life, going to housekeeping on the Henry P. Lightner farm at Loysville, later operating the John Sheibley farm at Oak Grove, Rev. S. T. Wagner farm, Alinda; the Bistline and Arthur Anderson farms at Andersonburg, the Seibert farm in Centre township and 16 years ago moved to the farm at Locust Grove, which he owned, retiring just this spring. He was a Republican in political faith, an honest, upright, hard working man, who was a good kind husband and neighbor, who will be missed in the home, church and community. He was a faithful member of the St. Peter's Reformed church and a member of the Sunday school. His sudden death is a shock to all who knew him and to his wife who labored so faithfully with him during their married life and who has the sincere sympathy of everyone in her sorrow. Also surviving are a brother Lewis Britcher, of Blain, a sister, Mrs. Laura Kauffman, of Spruce Hill and the following half brothers and sisters: Geo. Britcher, of Ill.; Alice, Mrs. Wesley Foltz, Mrs. Stella Winters and Chas. Britcher, of Harrisburg; Effie, Mrs. Irvin Gardner, of Everhartville; Rudy Bricher, of Pine Grove.
Funeral services will be held at his late home Wednesday at 10 a. m., a former pastor the Rev. R. E. Leinbach, of Carlisle, officiating. Burial will be in the Newport cemetery.
