Funeral rites for Russell R. Cole, 86, 210 South Houston, were held Tuesday, April 9, 1974, at 10:00 a.m. in Clay Funeral Chapel. Rev. Z.A. Myers, pastor of the Assembly of God Church of McLean, assisted by Rev. Roy Eason, pastor of Shamrock's Assembly of God Church conducted the services.
Jack Roach, C.D. Clay, Bryce Clay, Billy Clay, Aubrey Higdon and John D. Nunn served as pallbearers.
Burial was in Shamrock Cemetery under direction of Clay Funeral Home.
Mr. Cole died at 5:30 a.m. Sunday, April 7, 1974, in Shamrock General Hospital, following a lengthy illness.
Born February 18, 1888, in Blue Mountain, Arkansas, he and Miss Ida Louella Nunn were married February 13, 1910, in Blue Mountain, and lived in Arkansas until 1934. They came to Shamrock in 1942 from Elk City, Oklahoma, where they lived for eight years.
Mr. Cole worked several years for Clay Plumbing Company prior to retiring.
He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Arkansas.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Wilton Cole of Fort Worth; two daughters, Mrs. Margie Loyd of McLean, Mrs. Gladys Loyd of Shamrock; one brother, Mark Cole of Magazine, Arkansas; two sisters: Mrs. John Coleman of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Sidney Hayes of Skeedee, Oklahoma; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.
