ST. LAWRENCE - Mrs. Herbert (Hazel M.) Vitters, 68, died Saturday at the Good Samaritan Center.
Funeral will be held Ruesday at 2 p.m. in the St. Lawrence Congregational Church with the Rev.Richard Ransom officiating. Burial will be in the city cemetery.
Hazel M.Abbott was born July 22, 1908 to Frank and Maud Abbott at St. Lawrence, where she was graduated from high school in 1931. On March 31, 1935, she married Herbert Vitters at Redfield. They farmed in the Vayland, Tulare, Wessington and St. Lawrence areas before retiring and moving into St. Lawrence. She worked for several restaurants, 17 years at the Silver Grill and Lips Restaurant, Miller. The past year, she has resided in the nursing home.
Mrs. Vitters was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her widower; eight sons, Richard, Morris, Ill., Donald, Bloomington, Minn., Wayne, Hibbing, Minn., Albert, Richardson, Tex., David, Rapid City, Clifford, Milbank, Jerry, Aberdeen, and John, Omaha, Neb.; one daughter, Mrs. Larry (Marles) Wilson, Webster; 25 grandchildren; four brothers, Earl Abbott, Hoodsport, Wash., F.A. (Ted) Abbott, Jr., Bremerton, Wash., John Abbott, Yuma, Ariz., and Paul Abbott, Webster; and three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Eden and Mrs. Robert (Bertha) Field, both of Everett, Wash., and Mrs. LeRoy (Frances) Darling, Ripon, Wash. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
