Mrs. Vitina C. Bonura, 88, former resident of this city for many years, died in the home of a daughter, Mrs. G.W. Crosby, 5026 Woodrow Boulevard, Galveston, at 11:30 p.m. Friday. She made her home here for more than 50 years before moving to Galveston eight years ago to live with her daughter. She was a native of Santa Nifa, Italy, where she was born in 1864. She, with her husband, Frank Bonura, came to Beaumont in 1886 and for many years maintained a grocery store at Railroad and Doucette. The body was brought to Beaumont Saturday morning by Broussard's mortuary. Rosary will be recited at the funeral chapel at 8 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic church at 3 p.m. Monday and interment will be at Magnolia cemetery. Pallbearers have been designated as Joe Lee, Frank and C.J. Bonura, all of Beaumont, and Leo and Cleo Bonura and J.C. Maranto all of Galveston. Surviving are five sons, Frank, Joe, and Labo Bonura, all of Beaumont, Philip of Dickerson, and Sam of Galveston; and three daughters, Mrs. Crosby, Mrs. Gerald G. Ross of Galveston, and Mrs. Carl Nienstedt of Houston. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Mrs. Bonura was the mother of the late Lee Bonura, who was killed here two years ago in the burglary of a package store which he operated on Railroad avenue.
