OBIT published 29 Dec 1916:
John T. Beal was born Oct. 24th, 1848, in Milan county, Texas, and departed this life Dec. 24th, 1916, at Elida, New Mexico, being 68 years and two months old.
He was united in marriage to Miss Penelope Ann Stoneham, Mar. 16, 1875. To this union was born 8 sons and 2 daughters. Of the sons, two, with the mother, preceeded the father to the other shore.
Brother Beal was converted some 30 years ago, and united with the Baptist church, of which he was a consistent member at the time of his decease. He attended and took an active part in services at the Methodist church on the day of his call to the assembly above.
Funeral services were conducted by the writer, at the residence in Elida, admist a host of sympathizing friends and mourning relatives, and interment followed in the Elida cemetery, near the body of his recently deceased wife, and those of his son and grand-son, to await the final resurrection. --L.
