DONNA - Cornelio Cano Sr., 89, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Knapp Medical Center. He was born October 22, 1923 in General Teran, Mexico, son of Cosme Cano and Manuela Fernandez Cano. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Corina Avila Cano; brothers, Saul and Jose Fernandez Cano; sisters, Florinda Gonzalez and Carolina Sanchez.
Mr. Cano is survived by his children, Frances Bustos, Rachel Avila Cano, Jose Cornelio Cano, Jr., Josephina Guerra, Corina Parra, Patricia Javurek, Carolina Cantu, and Juan Manuel Cano. Also surviving him are 20 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation on Sunday, December 9, 2012 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral mass on Monday, December 10, 2012 at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Donna. Interment at Donna City Cemetery. Military services conducted by Sgt. Benito Alanis V.F.W. Post #7473 of Elsa, TX.
