Mr. Thomas, who ascribed his financial success to industry and hard work, was one of the most progressive farmers in this county. His properties were beautifully situated and his good management increased the value of all the land that had come under his care.

He was one of the organizers of the Adamstown Packing Company and was one of its directors from its organization until it was dissolved to be reorganized as the Adamstown Canning and Supply Company in which he was largely interested. He also helped to organize the Adamstown Turnpike Company, of which he had been a director since its organization. Mr. Thomas was highly esteemed as a business man, and as a citizen.

He was a stanch Democrat.

Mr. Thomas and his wife were members of Trinity Reformed Church in Adamstown. He served the congregation as deacon and elder. He contributed generously to the financial needs of the church and was active in building the new church edifice in Adamstown.
