Sarah Chapman was a daughter of Francis Chapman and Jennie Drummond Chapman. On March 4, 1824, she married James Lydick in northern Indiana County. She was the mother of six children all of whom survived her.

Although she was buried in Indiana County, her exact burial site is not known by her descendants at this time. Her husband survived her by 23 years and remarried. He, her parents, and other relatives are all buried in Indiana County in several old, neighboring cemeteries with many deteriorated grave stones.
