John W. Jeppson, 90, of Spring Valley passed away at 8:15 a.m. Dec. 6, 2012, in Spring Valley Nursing Center.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 15 in Helmer-Shields Funeral Home, Granville. Deacon John Murphy will officiate. Burial will be at Granville Cemetery.

Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. until the time of services in the funeral home.

Mr. Jeppson was born Dec. 31, 1921, in Putnam County to Elmer and Matilda (Nielson) Jeppson. He married Katherine Galliher on Feb. 19, 1947, in Putnam County. They later divorced.

He served in the U.S. Army, in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He retired from Maze Nail after 20 years.

Survivors are three sons, Charles (Judie) Jeppson of Peru, Dennis (Cindy) Jeppson of Bartow, Fla., and Duane Jeppson of Spring Valley; he and Katherine raised a special niece, Donna (Jeppson) Veronda of Granville; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Joe, Ed, Emery, Martin and Clarence; and two sisters, Ethyl and Helen.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Helmer-Shields Funeral Home, Granville. Burial will be at Granville Cemetery with full military honors by a U.S. Army flag-folding team, Granville American Legion and VFW.

Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. prior to services Saturday.
