Born December 26, 1927, she was the daughter of Floyd and Viola Harcourt.
Shirley graduated from New Paltz State Teacher's College in 1949 and taught in the Walkill Central School District for nearly 40 years. She was a dedicated and compassionate advocate for students that needed academic support.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she is survived by her husband of 60 years, Floyd A. Fowler, son Michael and his wife Kathleen of Modina, and her daughter Patricia Slechta and her husband, Marc of Duxbury, MA, and her sister, Shelby DeWitt and husband Gerald of Middlebury, VT as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her grandchildren Matthew Fowler of Modina, Catherine and John Slechta of Duxbury, MA and great-granddaughter Abigail Marlow.
