Laura Christina Rasmussen, daughter of Lauritz and Petrine Andreasen Rasmussen was born on the L. Rasmussen homestead in Union Township on September 12, 1875. She departed this life on January 27, 1963 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rasmussen, at the age of 87 years, four months and 15 days.

Laura lived on the farm with her parents, and tenderly cared for them and her brothers Alfred and Pete, the latter being an invalid for 18 years. Hers was a life of service for others.

She spent her lifetime in the Sherdahl Community, attending District No. 61 school. She moved from the farm to Scandia on October 19, 1946. In 1954 when her health began to fall, she went to make her home with Ralph and Opal Rasmussen. Aunt Laura was a good, kind and generous friend and neighbor. She enjoyed her home and was a lover of flowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers, and three sisters.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Agnes Cardwell of Scandia, two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Lew Rasmussen of Omaha, Neb., and Mrs. Alfred Rasmussen, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

The funeral service was at the Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart Funeral Home in Scandia. Interment was in Prairie Rose Cemetery, south and east of Republic, Kan.
