When Holt Bowling and his twin brother Howard were born in 1902 in Kentucky, their father, Howell, was 24, and their mother, Isabella, was 23. He had one daughter with Ethel Marcum between 1928 and 1928. He died as a young father in 1931 at the age of 29, and was buried in Big Creek, Kentucky.
