Chirley Anderson, 87, of Stoystown, passed on March 7, 2015 at home. Chirley was born February 13, 1928 to Paul and Mary Catherine (Bender) Anderson in Meyersdale. He served in the US Army as a private. He then began a long career in the automotive industry, where he operated Anderson’s Auto Body for more than 30 years until his retirement. His hobbies included stained glass art, creating bird sanctuaries, spending time with his family and friends, and spending time with his furry friend and faithful companion Sadie. Chirley is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Jane (Mort); son Timothy Anderson and wife Melissa of Stoystown; granddaughters Kaitlyn and Courtney Anderson; and sister Beatrice Smith of Somerset. He is preceded in death by his parents; son Maurice Lynn Anderson; siblings Joseph, Donald, Kenneth, Pauline (Thomas), Hilda )Phillips), and Mary Catherine (Engelka). Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Tuesday at MILLER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, SOMERSET, where a service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, pastor Kurtis Frampton officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the Somerset County Honor Guard. Interment at Union Cemetery, Meyersdale.
