Estherville – Services for James C. Hartman, 77, of Estherville, will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Willey officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. He died Sunday [November 27, 1994] at Holy Family Hospital. Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was born Jan. 19, 1917 at West Chicago, Ill., the son of Frank and Sarah (Clark) Hartman and moved with his family to the Estherville area in 1934. He graduated from Estherville High School in 1935. On March 15, 1939 he was united in marriage with Alta Petersen at Rutland. The couple farmed east of Estherville. He was a member of the Estherville United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Alta, of Estherville; two daughters, Mrs. James (Joanne) Summitt of San Antonio, Texas and Mrs. Darvin (Marilyn) Schnell of Estherville; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Charlotte Larson, Virginia Beach, Va.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert, and one sister, Betty Acord. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 28, 1994)
