Vera Helen Nelsen, 88, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society in Mohall, N.D.

Vera was born in Albert Lea to Christopher and Lydia (Schwede) Hansen. Vera grew up and graduated high school in Tagus, N.D. She moved to Rochester, where she met and married Leland Nelsen. Vera worked at Saint Marys Hospital where she sterilized surgical instruments for several years until her retirement. Upon her husband's death, Vera moved to Minot, N.D., and lived in the surrounding area until her passing.

Vera enjoyed a good conversation, was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan, and loved to play Bingo.

Survivors include her brother, Melvin (Joyce) Hansen of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland; her parents; two brothers, Richard and Clayton; and three sisters, Mildred, Eletha and Elaine.

A graveside service will take place at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 3, at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.

Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service-St. Charles is assisting the family with arrangements.
