HALL, Ambrose Jackson. Residence was not listed; Enlisted on 8/15/1861 at Camp Burnett, TN as a Private. On 8/15/1861 he mustered into "F" Co. KY 4th Infantry (date and method of discharge not given) He was listed as: Wounded 9/1/1864 Jonesboro, GA Promotions: Corpl 11/1/1863 ,Sergt 10/1/1864 Born 2 September 1840 in Tazewell Co., VA; Entered CS service from Taylor Co., KY. Listed as laborer in household of G.W. Buchanan in 1860 census.
Enlisted 15 August 1861 at Camp Burnett. Promoted to 1st Corporal, 1 November 1863, and to 3rd Sergeant, 1 October 1864. Fought at Shiloh, Vicksburg, Chickamauga, Missionary Ridge, Rocky Face Ridge, Resaca, and Dallas; from Dallas to Atlanta; at Peachtree, Intenchment, and Utoy Creeks; and at Jonesboro (where he was wounded on 1 September 1864). Fought in the campaign as mounted infantry. Paroled at Augusta, GA, 16 May 1865; described as 6 feet tall, with a fair complexion, light hair, and blue eyes. Married Rebecca Buchanan, 10 August 1865. Settled in Green Co. Died 26 June 1916 of cancer of the face. Confederate pension file number 1714.
