Mrs. Mary A. Wissler, 81, of Richmond, passed away Saturday, December 1, at Reid Hospital.
She was born August 19, 1931 in Whitewater to Elmer and Ruby Small Brumbaugh. She was a 1950 graduate of Whitewater High School and married Willard "Bill" Wissler on March 22, 1951. They were blessed with 61 years of marriage and 5 daughters.
Mrs. Wissler was a homemaker and in 1967 became the first female bus driver for Richmond Community Schools, driving for 10 years. She later went to work at Richards Restaurant for 4 years before moving on to the Iron Skillet for 7 years before she retired. She was a member of the Middleboro United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time attending and supporting the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Wissler will be missed by her husband, Bill, of Richmond; 5 daughters, Ann Toney, of Richmond; Linda Sheard and her husband, Tom, of Stanford, Ky; Karen Hager and her husband, Bob, of New Paris, OH; Roberta Porter and her husband, Mark, of Richmond; Vicky Phelps, of Richmond; 2 sisters, Phyllis Alexander, of Richmond; Elizabeth Grose and her husband, Bob, of Punta Gorda, Florida; 1 sister-in-law, Joan Brumbaugh, of Leesburg, Florida; 12 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Wissler was preceded in death by her parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Linville and Emma Culberson Wissler; grandson, Daniel Ray Hager; sister, Eva Sorchevich; brothers, Calvin, Ray, Kenneth and Carl Brumbaugh.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted by Rev. Jim Truelove at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 6, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Middleboro United Methodist Church or the Reid Foundation for Cancer Center.
