Jabez Hunt was born the 13th of 1st mo, 1784, a son of Nathan and Martha (Ruckman) Hunt. On the 6th of 3rd mo 1811, he married at Springfield Friends Meeting, Priscilla Coffin. They had one child, a daughter Semira. He died on the 2d of 10th mo 1812, when his daughter was only a few months old.

After his death his wife went to Indiana with her family and, as Priscilla Hunt Cadwallader, became an important minister in the Society of Friends.

"The Raleigh (NC) Register, Oct. 23, 1812: DIED, at his store, in Guilford Co., on the 2nd instant, highly respected, Mr. Jabez Hunt, in the 29th year of his age."
