Philadelphia Ledger, November 14, 1864
"EINWECHTER - On Friday, November 11th, at the Lincoln Hospital, Washington, of disease contracted while a prisoner on Belle Island, HENRY EINWECHTER, of the 72nd Regiment. Philadelphia Zouaves, son of Maria and the late George Einwechter, in the 28th year of his age.
He died with a blessed hope of a bright immortality. He gave his life for his country. May he rest in peace.
Though time with fleeting wings may dry
Those bitter scalding tears,
It cannot heal our wounded hearts,
Throughout the lapse of years.
No more the drum and trumpets sound
Shall call him to the side
No more the tyrants of the earth
Shall bid him die or yield.
The friends and relatives of the family, also the members of the 72d Regiment in the city, are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, this (Monday) afternoon, at 2 o'clock, from the residence of [illegible]. To proceed to Mount Vernon Cemetery."
